| Five years Dronabinol from THC Pharm – price reduction from 1st of July |
| Frankfurt, June, 30th, 2003 Five years after THC Pharm successfully produced Dronabinol from hemp fibres for the first time the enterprise situated in Frankfurt aims to file for a ready made medication (Fertigarzneimittel) containing the main agent of the Cannabis plant. The enterprise formerly established as an patients initiative is the first producer in Europe of Dronabinol (delta-9-THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD), the main active compounds of the Cannabis plant reducing pain and releasing cramps. For three years the substance has been made available in all of Germany and is more and more applied to fight spastics, pain, nausea and anorexia. The progress in productivity shall be transferred on to pharmacists and medical practitioners by reducing the prices. Up to now more than 1000 pharmacies in Germany and Austria use the raw substance to produce capsules, oily drops or an alcoholic inhalation preparation. Additional to the expansion of the production the licensing of a ready made medication is the main goal. In order to realise this step, THC Pharm is in negotiation with several partners. “In compliance with our plans the clinical trials shall begin this year” said Holger Rönitz, General Manager of the company established in 1996.
